Florida Turkish American Chamber of Commerce is founded in 2008 in Florida.
Chamber's main task is organizing meetings to bring Turkish and American business people together to exchange ideas on trade and investment as well as discussing new trading opportunities.
Labor cost for businesses is lower in Turkey comparing Europe and the U.S. The level of savings are high enough to cover shipment costs. This means American businesses can produce in Turkey both for US markets and other markets they serve. The high quality of its workmanship as well as natural resources makes this country unique and desirable.
Turkey is also a major buyer of semi-finished goods and technological products. This makes Turkey an important customer for American producers of many products. Almost all major American companies are already in Turkey or have plans to extend their activities to this country of 70 million.
On the other hand, many Turkish producers are interested in American market and would like to have their own offices in the U.S. The demand to Turkish products in European markets changed in the last decade; therefore, many Turkish business are in search of new markets. The largest market in the world, US market, is one of the major markets Turkish products are looking for a share. Moving to US market and taking a market share is not an easy task for Turkish businesses. They need local allies in those markets, they need to work with local Turkish-Americans. They need us.
As Turkish-American businessmen and businesswomen of Florida, we believe trade level, reached $12 billion in 2007, can be doubled between US and Turkey if the business people of both countries are educated and connected better. To succeed, we would like to work with local businessmen as a team and would like to show Turkish hospitality to the other businesses abroad.
